Herbal Tianqi Toothpaste: What Botanicals Actually Do in Oral Care

Tianqi is Panax notoginseng. TCM uses it for bleeding and bruising. Modern research looks at saponins like notoginsenosides and ginsenosides. Toothpaste isn’t medicine. Bleeding gums usually mean periodontal disease, and that’s a dentist’s job—not something a paste can fix. A toothpaste can still help, though: it can make the mouth feel cleaner, keep odor down, and clean without being harsh. Buyers must not cross that claim line on labels.

Honeysuckle, licorice, mint, scutellaria—these four are pretty much standard. Ask about honeysuckle and the buyer won’t ask about the flower—they’ll ask for chlorogenic acid. Licorice means glycyrrhizic acid. Mint means menthol. Scutellaria means baicalin. That’s how the conversation actually goes. Sounds familiar. But adding them is not dumping powder into paste. Water extract vs alcohol extract matters. 0.1% vs 1% matters. Low pH may hydrolyze saponins. High pH may precipitate glycyrrhizic acid. Calcium carbonate vs silica abrasives adsorb flavonoids differently—paste may discolor in three months. Fluoride formulas need free fluoride testing.

Base formula: abrasives, humectants, thickeners, foaming agents, flavor, sweeteners. Herbal extracts act as actives or flavor support. SLS foams hard but irritates some mouths. Amino acid surfactants are mild, fine foam, higher cost. Fluoride-free suits pharmacy channels, but anti-caries claims need caution. In the US, fluoride toothpaste may be OTC drug. EU often cosmetic. ASEAN differs. Check label language, INCI, fluoride level, child warnings before production.

What should buyers ask? Target regulations, fluoride level, SLS or not, herbal extract specs, MOQ, packaging, lead time. Supermarkets need barcodes, carton specs, pallets, promo packs. Wholesalers need price tiers, mixed cartons, sea freight. Pharmacy chains need low irritation, fluoride-free. Paste color, flavor, cooling level—easy changes. Packaging too: tubes, pumps, travel sizes, hotel minis. That’s standard OEM/ODM work.

B2B needs stability, compliance, customization. Confirm market and rules first, lock formula and samples, then discuss packaging and lead time.
